The Art of Meal Prep
The Decline of Eating In
According to a researcher at the Harvard Business Review, Americans can be divided into three groups:
-10 percent said they enjoyed cooking
-45 percent said they despised cooking
-45 percent were indecisive or indifferent about cooking
Reports from the Bureau of Labor Statistic calculated the average American household spent $2,787 dining out and $3,971 in groceries in 2014. By 2015, the restaurant bill increased to $3,008. The spending on groceries only increased by $44, bringing the average to $4,015. This trend signifies the new attitude around eating out: it is no longer a luxury.
The average American cannot afford such a costly habit just because it seems more conducive for their schedule.
The Savings Solution
Planning and preparing meals ahead of time provides many benefits. It can ultimately save your wallet, energy, and health while putting the enjoyment back into cooking for yourself and loved ones.
Meal prepping is sometimes perceived as exclusively for those with fitness goals, extra time to spend, and more money to invest. This is incredibly misinterpreted. Instead, meal prepping gives you more control of your diet while supporting fitness goals as well as provides you with more time cumulatively throughout your week, and ultimately saves you money long term!
