Essential Oils for Pets

Benefits for the Whole Family!

Aromatherapy and essential oils have proven both physically and psychologically beneficial for centuries, having been used by many cultures around the world. These uses have varied from religious purposes to healing the sick, and now to helping our four-legged best friends!

If you are new to essential oils, these oils are highly concentrated plant compounds that are distilled from the roots, leaves, stems, flowers, or bark of the plant.

Plant oils provide plants with protection against predators and disease and holistic approaches to wellness recognize this ability and translate it into being beneficial to more than just plants. However, while it has long been a practice to aid human well being, the practice of using essential oils with pets is relatively new.

During Essential Oils for Pets, on Tuesday, October 8th at 6:00 pm CDT at Natchez Trace Veterinary Services, we will explore the many benefits of essential oils for cats and dogs as well as the potential dangers of using the wrong oils.

Use With Confidence

As some essential oils are known to be harmful to pets, it’s crucial to be familiar with the various types, uses, and applications to ensure safety. One of the issues with essential oils is they may contain contaminants or adulterants that can be harmful to pets. For this reason, it’s important to be sure about the purity of the oils you choose not only for your pets but for yourself as well.

Did you know that pets have highly sensitive senses of smell which needs to be considered when using essential oils? Cats, in particular, are at risk for negative reactions from essential oils when not used sparingly on or around them.

Knowing species-specific differences among various essential oils will ensure your pet remains safe from harm as many pets who experience negative reactions are found to be suffering from overuse by pet parents! (This means that frequent diffuser use can cause an unintentional overdose in pets!)

However, when used properly, essential oils can provide a host of benefits for your pets ranging from calming anxious feelings to helping ease joint pain. Join us to ensure safe use for a happy, healthy experience!

Safety first!

During this event, we will share which essential oils are pet approved, which are considered to be potentially harmful, and how to find out the proper application and signs to look for to avoid toxicity.

In fact, our goal for Essential Oils for Pets is to ensure the safe use of essential oils to enhance the health and wellness of your pets. We love our four-legged friends, their well being is our first priority!

It’s important to discuss your pets health and essential oils with your vet prior to use to ensure the best level of care for your pet. While certain oils are considered generally safe for pets, this doesn’t always guarantee they will be safe for YOUR pet.

As such, we encourage you to invite other pet parents interested in alternative therapies for their pets.

This class is guaranteed to provide you with all the information you need for the safe application of essential oil therapy for your fur babies!
